Bollards
Bollards are concrete-filled, steel vertical posts typically used to protect buildings and objects from vehicles or to control traffic patterns. They are also used for various purposes including commercial, construction, and security measures. Atlantic Fence manufactures and supplies various types of bollards ranging in size from 24″ to 96″ with many different diameters available, usually 4’, 6 5/8” or 8 5/8.” They come in black steel, galvanized, painted or powder coated. For a more aesthetically pleasing look, or for safety purposes, Atlantic Fence also offers yellow plastic covers.
Bollards are sturdy and virtually weather-proof and will withstand minor impacts. This is helpful, especially in protecting structures from traffic. They will serve to protect pedestrians from dangerous areas, such as construction sites. Another useful application is to protect historical structures from both automobile and pedestrian traffic.
Bollards are also an effective way to control parking and traffic, as they allow you to set up exact movement patterns while designating specific areas for parking. There are various maritime uses, such as mooring bollards for towing, shore-line mounting, and docking. Protective bollards are useful for industrial or commercial properties like banks or retail spaces that experience high thru-traffic volumes. Removable or retractable bollards add an extra measure of security and safety in from of retail buildings, on activity trails, or government buildings.
